🔵2020 EHS HOCO Grand Marshal🔵

Robert Vincent Posthumously Named 2020 Erath High Homecoming Grand Marshal

Erath High Principal Marc Turner is proud to announce that Erath native Robert B. Vincent has been named posthumously the Erath High 2020 Homecoming Grand Marshal. Though Homecoming will be very different this year, the Homecoming game is set for November 6, 2020. Since there will not be a Homecoming parade, Robert will be honored at the Homecoming football game. Today, would be Robert’s forty-second birthday, an appropriate day to make this announcement.

Robert was a proud 1997 Erath High graduate who attended Dozier Elementary and Erath Middle in his younger years. Upon graduation in 1997, he attended UL. In 1998, he was elected to serve as an Alderman (Mayor Pro Temp) for the Town of Erath. Robert holds the record as the youngest person in the state ever to serve as Mayor Pro Tem of Erath. He served in that capacity until 2002. He graduated from UL in 2002 with a degree in Business Administration and 2004 with a Master’s Degree in Business Administration. He then received his Juris Doctorate from Southern University Law Center in May of 2010. At that time, he returned home and began practicing law in Warren Perrin's Erath office. In November of 2014, Robert was elected once again to serve as a Town Councilman for his community. Robert passed away from Muscular Dystrophy on October 8, 2020, still serving as an Erath Town Councilman.

In terms of community service, his contributions are too numerous to list. The forty-two year-old Erath native has served his community for many years in different capacities. His involvement in town projects has been ongoing since his teenage years. As a young teenager, he became involved with his cousin Warren Perrin and the Acadian Museum in Erath where he remained active until his death.
While still in high school, he worked hard to improve Erath High’s track. As a junior in 1996, he was named one of the Louisiana Young Heroes in the state. A quote from the LPB Young Heroes site states, "Robert Vincent almost single-handedly raised $60,000 to build a new track at Erath High School. It is a track he will never run on because he has Muscular Dystrophy." He also served on the Erath Museum's Board of Directors. In addition, Robert was an active member of the Erath Backer's Club since the 90s as well as the Erath 4th of July Association. In 2003, he became the President of the Erath 4th of July Association, a position he held until 2019. His Presidential tenure for the 4th of July's group is the longest running in the history of the group. One of his most recent contributions was a collaborative video documentary for the fiftieth Anniversary of the Erath Water Tower in October 2014. Historical Erath projects such as this and the preservation of the town's history has been a passion of his since his childhood and preteen years. Robert is the son of Douglas and Jackie Vincent of Erath and the brother to Joe Vincent and sister-in-law Heather. Without a doubt, Robert was the community of Erath's biggest and most dedicated Bobcat fan and has served the Erath schools in multiple ways. Erath High School is extremely proud to honor Robert B. Vincent posthumously as the 2020 Erath High Homecoming Grand Marshal.
