Flag Pole Dedication
Members of the Dubois Family were on hand today for the dedication of the new flag pole at Erath High School. The donation was made by the DuBois family in honor of EHS graduates Andre Simon,Sr., Andre Simon, Jr., Richard Camille and Msgr. Charles Joseph DuBois.
Renee McDermott, daughter of Richard Dubois said the following words to mark the occasion:
My grandfather, Simon, always understood the importance of an education. After his 1927 graduation from EHS he attended business school at the prestigious Soule Business College in New Orleans. To this day, his children, grand children, and great grand children have followed in his footsteps. Collectively they have received 30 Bachelor of Science degrees, 5 master degrees, and one MD degree; all becoming successful in their own rights. Currently, his great-great grand children are pursuing their education because of the significance it has played in our family through the generations.
The Andre Simon DuBois family would like to present this flag, flag pole, and dedication marker to the faculty and staff (past and present) of Erath High School. We hope that this will serve as a permanent reminder of our appreciation to the school for providing our family with an excellent education foundation.”
We are grateful to the Dubois family for this donation. The EHS Community will treasure it for generations to come.
