Jason Roy Visits Educators Rising Class

Jason Roy, District G Vermilion Parish School Board member, visited Mrs. Amy LeBlanc's Educators Rising Class recently to speak about his role as a board member and his personal journey as an educator. Roy talked to EHS aspiring teachers about how education policy shapes what happens in our schools and how the decisions local school boards make impact the work of educators. He also shared factors that guide his decisions as a board member and the challenges associated with serving in political office. As a former classroom teacher turned school board member, Roy offered students a unique perspective, and he shared that although he no longer wears the hat of "teacher," he still considers himself an educator. The goal of the Educators Rising program is to inspire young people to pursue careers in education related fields and to educate future parents, community members and business professionals about how our school system works.
