Congratulations to our 2025-26 High School Cheer Squad!

Ms. Cynthia’s 6th Grade ELA have an exercise on Friday’s called “Free Write Friday!” Since in their current unit they have been learning about the Dust Bowl and reading the novel “Out of the Dust”, they listened to the song Dust in the Wind by Kansas making connections to the lyrics and their lessons.



Celebrating Black History

Ms. Sheri’s FACS 1 students took a trip to Campbell’s grocery today. They are learning about planning nutritious meals on a budget.




District 11 FFA welding contest was held Wednesday afternoon February 26, 2025 3pm at Abbeville High School. Students had to cut, prepare, and weld a 2G plate to be inspected and graded by partnerships through the Vermilion Parish Workforce Commission. The industrial partnerships for the event included inspectors from Acadian Contractors, Accurate weldment testing and Precision Engineering. Top 8 teams were chosen to advance to the Area III FFA Welding Contest to be held at Associated Builders and Contractors in Westlake on March 18th. Blaise Hebert and Joshua Mayer represented Gueydan FFA and will advance to Area to compete for a chance to go to State FFA Welding Contest in Baton Rouge.




Ms. Sheri’s Fine Arts students took a trip to the Gueydan Museum today to view their newest exhibit titled “Swamp Spirits “. They enjoyed critiquing the works of Art with Ms. Suzanne.


Lache Pas Courier de Mardi Gras in Kaplan. Students walked down Kaplan Boulevard playing LaDanse de Mardi Gras on the fiddle, guitar and accordion for the businesses getting donations. The food was donated to the Kaplan Food Bank.






Thanks to Sheriff Eddie Langlinais, Chief Cru Delcambre, and the Vermilion Parish Sheriff's Office for coming to GHS today to present a lesson on social media safety to our students.

Our Junior Beta members competed in the Visual Arts category yesterday at State Convention. No one placed, but congratulations to these students on creating these truly wonderful works of art!






Next Wednesday, February 26th, we will host informational parent meetings to discuss scheduling for next school year for current 9th and 11th graders.
The 9th grade meeting will be from 6:00 to 6:30, and the 11th grade meeting will be from 6:30 to 7:00. Both meetings will be in the auditorium.
